Une histoire à dormir debout

In the event of a scheduled hospitalization

Check your pharmacy to see if you have enough painkillers:

  • Paracétamol (Dafalgan®, Perdolan®, Dafalgan Instant®)

  • Ibuprofène (Algidrin®, Nurofen®, Spidifen®)

In oral form (syrups, tablets, powder) because suppositories act more slowly and randomly.

If your child shows any signs of ‘illness’, such as a temperature, coughing, cold symptoms, vomiting, etc., have him/her examined by his/her paediatrician or contact the surgeon to determine whether the operation should be continued.

Packing the child's suitcase:

If your child is only coming for the day, take something to keep him occupied, his cuddly toy, a change of clothes and loose-fitting clothing, slippers and anything else you think will make him feel good.

If, on the other hand, they are due to spend several days with us, take :

Pyjamas, light clothing, slippers, underwear, toiletries, cuddly toys, favourite games and medication if your child is taking a specific treatment.

Don't forget to take along the completed form entitled ‘Taking off into the clouds with the anaesthetist’.

Having a shower:

  • Wash with standard soap.
  • Then put on clean clothes.
  • Remove varnish, false nails and jewellery.

In the morning:

  • Follow the fasting instructions given by the anaesthetist.
  • Make sure your child wears clean clothes.

Arriving at the hospital:

  • Go to the admissions department on the ground floor of the hospital (Building A) 2 hours before the operation.
  • Don't forget your administrative documents (identity card, insurance, your child's pre-operative passport, etc.).

You will be given a prescription for the appropriate painkillers.

Please note that your child's pain may manifest itself in different ways:

  • Expressing their pain verbally
  • By making faces
  • Screaming
  • Crying
  • Adopting analgesic positions
  • Having difficulty falling asleep and/or waking up at night
  • ...
